Today’s guest is author Glenn Aparicio Parry, Ph.D. Glenn is the author of Original Thinking: A Radical Revisioning of Time, Humanity, and Nature and the subject of today’s show, his most recent book, Original Politics: Making America Sacred Again.
Glenn Aparicio Parry, PhD, of Basque, Aragon Spanish, and Jewish descent, is also the author of the Nautilus award-winning book, Original Thinking: A Radical Revisioning of Time, Humanity, and Nature (North Atlantic Books, 2015), and an educator, eco-psychologist, and political philosopher whose passion is to reform thinking and society into a coherent, cohesive, whole. The founder and past president of the SEED Institute, Parry is currently the director of a grass-roots think tank, the Circle for Original Thinking. He earned his BA in Psychology from Allegheny College, and went on to earn both his MA in East-West Psychology and his PhD in Humanities with a concentration in Transformative Learning from the California Institute of Integral Studies.
Glenn organized and participated in the groundbreaking Language of Spirit Conferences from 1999 – 2011 that brought together Native and Western scientists in dialogue, moderated by Leroy Little Bear. He has previously written about these experiences in in a book chapter entitled “The Old is Now: Creating a Shift Toward Wholeness through Dialogue” (with Phillip H. Duran); in “SEED Thoughts on Dialogue,” ReVision Journal (Winter 2004), “Native Wisdom in a Quantum World,” Shift (IONS Journal, December 2005), and in his doctoral dissertation: SEED Graduate Institute: An Original Model of Transdisciplinary Education Informed by Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Dialogue. He has appeared in several documentary films, including “Journey to Turtle Island” by Spanish film maker Miryam Servet, and “SEEDing Change: A Retrospective of the Language of Spirit Dialogues,” directed by Joyce Anastasia and produced by the Foundation for Global Humanity.
Parry has also been a talk show host and has participated in hundreds of radio shows as a guest. He regularly facilitates dialogues, both in person and on this website. He is a member of the Institute of Noetic Sciences and the Theosophical Society as part of a life-long interest in bridging the arts and sciences. He received a special commendation from the New Mexico State Senate in 1999 for helping to build the first Straw-Bale Post Office in the United States. His first career was as a rock and roll booking agent living in Woodstock, NY and he also was a professional disc jockey for several years in his youth.
Original Politics: Making America Sacred Again—the second book from educator, eco-psychologist, and political philosopher Glenn Aparicio Parry—aims to facilitate a seemingly impossible task: unifying a socially and politically fractured United States. Some interesting questions were posed to Parry about the book. We’ve put one here:
I think most people are familiar with our founding fathers, but in the book you discuss “founding mothers.” Can you talk about those women and how they fit into the 19th-century women’s movement? Nineteenth-century American women were not permitted to participate in politics at all. They could not vote and could not run for office, but they still had to pay taxes. They could not divorce, and if they separated from their husbands, they would be returned to them by police like runaway slaves. If they left their husbands, they lost all custody rights to their children. They weren’t even permitted to speak aloud in church. They were completely second-class citizens. They might have accepted this fate had they not met up with Native American women. The Iroquois, like many Native societies, were, and still are, matrilineal. Women controlled the use of property. Moreover, women in Native cultures have long been revered as the life-givers in tune with the rhythms of the Earth. Women did not just work in the home. They were responsible for agriculture as well.
The Native women inspired them to aspire to full equality, not just the right to vote. They later scaled back their demands to focus on suffrage, but that was only a strategic retreat, not their first choice. Nassim Haramein was born in Geneva, Switzerland in 1962. As early as 9 years old, Nassim was already discovering the universal dynamics of matter and energy, which led him on a journey toward pioneering a new approach to quantum gravity and continual developments in unified field theory. He grew up in Eastern Canada with an innate reverence for the design of nature and a determination to discover the basic building-blocks of creation. Nassim dedicated most of his time to his independent investigation into physics, geometry, chemistry, biology, consciousness, archeology, and various world religions. Haramein’s dedication to scientific exploration combined with his keen observation of the behavior of nature led him to a specific geometric pattern which is at the core of his approach and new perspective in unified field theory.
Fluent in both French and English, Haramein has been delivering lectures and seminars on unification theory for over 20 years worldwide. In 2003 he founded The Resonance Project Foundation, and as its Director of Research leads teams of physicists, electrical engineers, mathematicians and other scientists to explore the frontier of unification principles and their implications. Haramein’s lifelong vision of applied unified physics to create positive change in the world today is reflected in the mission of The Resonance Project Foundation. He shares the developments of his research through scientific publications and educational offerings through the Resonance Academy.
Currently Nassim is focused on his most recent developments in quantum gravity and their applications to technology, new energy research, applied resonance, life sciences, permaculture, and consciousness studies. Nassim currently resides in Kauai compassionately raising his two young sons, and surfing the sunlit swells on the shores of the magnificent Hawaiian islands.
